Going Green Neighborhood
Wednesday, January 21 12:30pm -1:30pm
$5.00 per child/ $2.00 each additional sibling (parent free)
There is only one Earth and we must all do our part in making sure that we take care of our planet. Discover what happens to neglected environments and see how the little changes in our neighborhood can go a long way in protecting our city, our country, and the planet. Take part in our interactive Going Green activity as we explore the ways to make our neighborhood green. The Going Green Neighborhood program is great for all ages.
Eco-Friendly Products
Thursday, January 29 10:30am-11:30am
$5.00 per child/ $2.00 each additional sibling (parent free)
Participants will learn how to use everyday items found in their kitchens to make cleaning products. Discover what makes these great alternatives to traditional cleaning products. Also learn how to read eco-labels on store brought products-what do they really mean and how are these products beneficial to the environment?
Little Hands Club (ages 3-5)
Thursday, January 22 and Monday, January 26 10:00am-12:00pm
$5.00 per child/$2.00 each additional sibling (parent free)
Get set to explore the exciting world of science! Parents join educators in opening up new worlds for their young scientist, while having lots of fun. Enjoy crafts, songs, games, and adventures the EHC way. Each month holds a topic just right for little hands. January's theme is Snowflakes. There’s always something new to discover so let the adventure begin!
Wildlife Forensics Crime Scene
Interested in learning more about forensic lab techniques? Want to find out how forensics is applied to wildlife crime situations? Join us at the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center while we use our knowledge in the lab to collect clues and investigate a wildlife crime.
Class Times: Meets Fridays from 10am-12noon, starting February 13 for 10 weeks (no class Apr 10)
Ages: Middle and High School students
Cost: Nonmembers $85.00; Members $75.00

Free At Last: Now Let Me Fly
February 5, 2009 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Join us for storyteller Chetter Galloway as he highlights the lives and important roles enslaved Africans undertook during the Civil War. It emphasizes the pain, struggle, and triumph through stories, songs, spoken word, and dramatization. This performance is most appropriate for grades 6-12 and older.
Cost: $10 per family, $5 GEHC member family, $5 per individual
Beginning Quilting Workshop
Wednesday, February 11 10:00 am - 4:00 pm and Thursday, February 12 10:00am-4:00pm
In remembrance of Abraham Lincoln please join us as we make the Lincoln Museum Quilt which you will take home with you. This class is perfect for beginners. Students will need to bring their sewing machine with empty bobbin, and size 12 needles, extension cord, fabric scissors, straight pins, plastic see thru ruler, and pen or pencil and paper for notes.
Cost: This 2-day workshop costs $70 per student. Don’t forget to bring a sack lunch.
