Rancho Alegre Farm learning opportunity
Rancho
Alegre Farm is proud to offer an instructional day on the farm. Here
your child will enjoy an incredible experience working with the farm
animals and maintaining the gardens as well as continuing the lessons
you and the state have outlined for your home schooled child. We will
spend the full instructional day working on your child's instructional
needs while incorporating all that there is to learn on a working farm.
The instructor, Sarah Neal is a Georgia certified teacher who will provide one-on-one support, instruction, and guidance for your child's daily curriculum as well as any projects or challenging areas. The weekly schedule will allow the children to work with peers within their age groups: Monday- Kindergarten and first grade; Wednesday- second and third grades; Friday- fourth and fifth grades.
The day will be from 8:30 AM until 1:30 PM providing the children with time for snacks, lunch, and free recess times. Daily rates are $30.00/day or $100/month. Home school groups are welcome. All classes must be reserved at least one week in advance. Please email Sarah at learnandgrow@ ranchoalegrefarm.com to schedule your child's learning experience at Rancho Alegre Farm.

Join us for our Semi-Annual Homeschool Day! Come be a spy on The Orient Express and learn why it is the most famous train in the world. Participants will hear about the famous people who rode on it: from kings to spies to infamous criminals. Discover the different routes and cities it travels through. Glimpse what it was like to travel in total luxury. Activities will include a scavenger hunt, craft, game, spy station, World War One history Lesson, and other educational experiences.

September at National History Archives
September Home School History at the National Archives at Atlanta

You now have a choice! Attend Home School History on either the third Wednesday or the prior Tuesday of each month. This month choose from Tuesday October 18th or Wednesday October 19th.
The National Archives at Atlanta invites the home school community to participate in Home School History. Using the primary source wealth of the National Archives, students will experience American history with original documents from our regional holdings and from the online resources from other facilities of the National Archives. Students will also be exposed to sessions on research skills and research projects. Sessions are appropriate for grades 5 through 12 (ages 11 to 18). All sessions are free. Students under the age of 14 need to be accompanied by an adult. For more information and the year-long schedule of each morning and afternoon session, contact our Education Specialist, Joel Walker at joel.walker@nara.gov or 770-968-2530.
If you plan to attend, we would appreciate that you contact us before each day you plan to attend for photocopying and other planning purposes.
The October 18/October 19 sessions are listed below. Each session is approximately 2 hours in length (Wednesday's sessions are a repeat of Tuesday's).
October 18 and 19
10:00 a.m. Documents of Early Federal America (Primary Source Activity)
Students will explore the early decades of the United States from 1787 through 1824 from the perspective of primary sources from the National Archives.
1:00 p.m. How to do a History Project
Learn how to choose a topic, form a research question, do research, and create a fantastic history project. Home Schoolers will be encouraged to do a year-long research project and present their work at the Home School History Expo in May.

Pioneer School day
What was school like back in the good `ole days before computers, closed circuit TV and washable magic markers? Come experience a traditional school day in a one room rural school house. Our school marm will teach the 3 R's with a good dose of recitation, spelling bees, chores, and games. Bring your sack lunch and get ready for some good old fashioned fun.

* Families will stay together in dormitories or cabins and eat delicious meals in our dining halls
* Class offerings include topics such as marsh ecology, orienteering, herpetology, beach ecology, pioneer studies, etc.
The Georgia 4-H Environmental Education Programs serve over 30,000 students in the southeast every year and over 800,000 students since its inception in 1979. Operating September through May of each year, our five 4-H Centers provide opportunities throughout the state for high-quality day and residential educational experiences. Georgia Aquarium offers home school students the opportunity to participate in the Instructor-Led Education programs. The Instructor-Led Education Experience offers one-hour programs on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:45 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. Below is the home school schedule:

Stone Mountain Park Homeschool Day
Home School Day
Date: Friday, October 1, 2010Time: 10am - 5pmBring your home school students to Stone Mountain Park, the perfect classroom for a full day of educational opportunities and fun times! See what’s part of Home School Day below:
- Special Home School Day Adventure Pass Rate of $17.00 (per person plus tax) Includes unlimited use of all open Stone Mountain Park attractions for the entire day (excluding Ride the Ducks).
- Sky Hike – Trek through the treetops on the nation’s largest family adventure course!
- Plantation & Farmyard – Stroll through 100 years of Georgia history with one of the largest collections of 18th & 19th Century buildings and artifacts, plus live interactive demonstrations performed throughout.
- 15 miles of wooded nature trails
- The Quarry – exhibits the process of granite quarrying at Stone Mountain and the changes in the technology over time.
- Discovering Stone Mountain Museum – This museum features 12,000 years of Stone Mountain History with many artifacts and stories.
- 8th Annual Pumpkin Festival – Sneak Peek of Pumpkin Festival shows and activities included in Adventure Pass.
- Ride The Ducks – This lively amphibious tour culminates with a big splash into Stone Mountain Lake. It is not included in the Adventure Pass but can be added at a reduced rate.
- Peter Bonner’s hysterical and historical take on Colonial Georgia - 1pm-4pm in the Plantation adjacent to the Thornton House.
